S2D Disk Clean

I recently ran into a situation where I wanted to start all over with the configuration of Storage Spaces Direct.

What had happend was that the Enable-ClusterS2D stopped at 59% for a long period of time before I desided to kill the process and start all over.

There are alot of good resources online to help you do that for instance “Completely Clearing an Existing Storage Spaces Configuration”

But some of the disks on the Servers where locked and reported Generic Physical Disk, Lost Communication.

I could not bring them online and couldnt clean them.

I then got an idea to uninstall the disks from Device Manager and then scan for hardware changes.

That released the lock and I could clean out the disks and start again.
